Movie Review - The Incredible Hulk

Where to begin? Well lets just start here, the newest film version of the Hulk is a good film. Is it the best comic book movie ever made? No, not by a long shot, but it is still a good film. The story line is based more off the of the 1970's TV version of the iconic character more so than the comic book. That made the film interesting and at many points nostalgic, especially the scenes when Edward Norton who plays Bruce Banner, would walk alone to that sad Hulk music from the show.

The new CGI version the of the hulk is actually pretty cool to look at. For an 8 foot tall green monster, he looked surprisingly realistic and menacing. His nemesis, The Abomination however looked kinda of ridiculous but the acting of Tim Roth who played the character was on point as it usually is.

As I did in past film reviews I wont go into detail of what happened in the film but i will say how I felt after watching it. The Hulk started off very engaging and action packed with Banner on the run and the Hulk fighting off swarms of army attackers. The climax fight at the end of the film however seemed to drag and considering you are seeing two giant green monsters fighting each other in the streets of New York City, it just wasn't that exciting. I really feel, and this was put into words by my good friend Khorey who watched the film with me, that the Hulk was just a stepping stone to what will eventually be the Avengers movie that Marvel has in store for us in 2011. The movie was just a story builder for one of the characters that will be apart of what will probably be the greatest comic book movie ever made. Yes I am predicting that now...The Avengers will be that great. Marvel knows what at stake with a film of that magnitude and it is evident, since they are producing back story films like the Hulk and the impending Captain America movie to get us ready for the Avengers.

To wrap it up, the Hulk is a good film, not the best, but I would definitely purchase it when it comes out on BluRay.

The Incredible Hulk -2008
Run Time - 114 minutes

Run To/Run Away - Run to as if Bruce Banner were chasing you, not the Hulk
