Chevy's electric dream car, the Volt, has been in development for quite some time now. It will be one of the first plug-in electric cars available for the public to purchase. Plug-in meaning just that, it charges at your house and uses no gas unless your battery runs out. I have been anxiously waiting for this car to come out, mostly because the idea of using no gasoline makes my wallet happy and the sexiness of it does the same for my pants. Today is a sad day however, because Chevy announced that it is estimating that the Volt will run about $40,000!! Bad news indeed. I personally feel that if Chevy really wants electric vehicles to be a success, they should make one available at a reasonable price point to the average consumer. It doesnt really make sense to save money on gas, but then use those savings for your car payment. I guess we've got a couple years to find out how this will work out because Chevy expects the Volt to be available in 2010.
